I have been representing buyers and sellers in the Pioneer Valley since 2003. Prior to that I was an independent disaster relief home inspector under contract to FEMA for about a year after several years as an archaeologist. I take great pride in the fact that I always put my clients' interests first with integrity and unparalleled customer service.
I started Michael Seward Real Estate in 2017 after over 14 years serving the Pioneer Valley working for other agencies, including as the broker of record for a legacy Amherst real estate agency. My vision is to provide a better value for less, because today's technology has made it less expensive to market and sell a home. I believe that the right thing to do is to pass those savings onto the consumer. Licensed salespersons must work for a broker with whom they share an agency's commission. Home sellers save money by working with the broker of Michael Seward Real Estate. I also offer a dual-rate commission structure of 4%, or 3% if I manage the transaction as a dual agent for additional savings.
Although I provide the best real estate marketing around, I am also a highly experienced and knowledgeable real estate broker. My numerous professional designations include the prestigious Certified Residential Specialist, which less than 3% of all REALTORS®nationwide have earned. I am also Green Certified by the National Association of Realtors, a Certified New Homes Specialist, a Certified Buyers Representative, and a Loss Mitigation Specialist. While most real estate agents are licensed salespersons, I am a licensed broker. This is in addition to a Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology and a Master of Arts Degree in anthropology. You get a higher level of skill, integrity, and professionalism for less when you work with me. That means getting your home sold at a higher price and a smoother transaction for you.
My seller clients benefit from internet marketing expertise. The internet is where home
buyers find the house they purchase. One of the benefits of listing your home is my narrated HD video tours. Now my tours include aerial footage, as I have recently earned the FAA certificate required to use drones for commercial purposes.
The benefits of real video are profound, as they are a superior way to showcase the various aspects of your home, your neighborhood, and your community. They shouldn’t be confused with "virtual tours”, which are merely photographs stitched together. These videos are posted on numerous websites, including the MLS, where they are syndicated to almost all of real estate websites, social media, and on Youtube. Please give me a call to learn more about the benefits of real video. Why pay more for less when you can pay less for more? Check out Youtube.com/MichaelSewardRealtor for some examples of my videos. You'll also find testimonials there.
Michael Seward Real Estate also offers buyer representation. I take my fiduciary duties to my clients seriously. As such, I make sure that my buyer clients are aware of all the homes that are available for sale. Even though all properties listed with other agents are available online, I have seen agents steer their buyer clients away from certain listings for selfish reasons. This includes a low commission fee that a seller's agent has agreed to share with a buyers' agent, known as a co-broke fee. This is how buyers' agents are paid. My advice to my clients is never determined by how it benefits me. My clients always come first.
A first-class home should have first-class marketing by a first-class REALTOR®

Our lucky day came when I saw one of Mike's videos on my Facebook page. It was so innovative, not only video of the home, inside and out, but also the highlights of the area and his narration. We had planned to interview two or three agents, but that proved unnecessary when we met Mike. He is professional, friendly, respectful, and creative. Our home sold the first weekend it was listed. He kept us informed constantly from the time we signed the contract to right through the closing."

"Mike produced an excellent video of our home, and impressed us with his internet marketing skills which led to a market increase in house showings. While the video certainly helped set our home apart from the competition, we noticed that Mike had great communication skills with the potential buyers and other realtors. He was able to secure a fair offer for our home, and once we had a deal put together, he stayed in constant communication with us throughout the transaction to make sure everything that needed to be done was completed. He also made sure that any potential problems were addressed immediately so that they never became issues."
Robert and Carol Ward
"Unlike many of his contemporaries Michael Seward communicated frequently and effectively with the community and us, your clients. To his credit, we were never blindsided or in the dark at any time. Mike was proactive and kept us looking ahead of the present...Other agents failed where he prevailed...During difficult times when we needed his best, that was what he gave us.
Michael & Evelyn Ross
"From the moment I engaged Mike as the exclusive listing agent earlier this year, the energy you generated by Mike's efforts to locate a suitable buyer was palpable. Mike's thoughtfully composed deion of the house and property, the photos he took and, of course, the video he produced were all coordinated to achieve a sale at a good price in a competitive market. Mike never appeared to be discouraged and, at all times, remained optimistically focused on the objective of finding a buyer, and once found, getting the deal closed."
"Our previous agent advised us that the passive solar design of our 1970's house was a deterrent to most home buyers, but Mike didn't see it that way. Rather than playing down the unique features of our home, he advised us that they were desirable to those with an eye toward sustainability and energy conservation. We also didn't feel that our previous agent listened to our concerns, but Mike certainly did. We never had to chase Mike down. He maintained constant communication with us, which we appreciated greatly."
